System W 14 HH
Rail fastening system for concrete ties, ballasted track and heavy haul.
System W 14 HH
with tension clamp Skl 14 R
with tension clamp Skl 14 R
- Skl 14 R tension clamp with 1.8 mm fatigue strength
- Rail tilting protection by middle bend of the tension clamp and special design of angled guide plate
- Reduction of maintenance costs by permanent elastic tensioning of the rail with tension clamps (2 x 12 kN toe load)
- Gauge adjustment ±10 mm in 2.5 mm steps
At a glance
- Captive system
- Large lateral insulator surface to reduce insulator wear
- Abrasive Wear Plate to reduce Rail Seat Abrasion
- Bonding of Abrasive Wear Plate with no influence on toe load
- Two independent spring arms to apply toe load
- No squeezed insulator between clip and rail foot
- No component dismantling required for rail destressing
- Middle bend as anti roll-over device which avoids loss of toe load due to overstressing
- Derailments: All components exchangeable
Advantages with the W 14 HH
- The abrasion plate can be bonded to the tie
- The act of bonding the abrasion plate to the tie has no affect on the performance of the rail pad between the rail and the abrasion plate
- The design of the fastening system caters to the application of a bonding agent without any compromise of the tension clamp toe load and roll-over performance
- The tensioning of the tension clamp is unchanged
- Several tools and machinery had to be adjusted to the W 14 HH, e.g. simple ones like leveling plates for welding operations or bigger machines like the NVCAR of Nordco for W14HH installation
Design and Testing according AREMA
- The Fastening System W 14 HH is tested according the requirements of AREMA:
- E.g. the demands for the creep resistance are met and the repeated load test was performed; there are 3Mio. times 133.5kN applied to the rail head under an angle of 20°
- Additionally, the new Severe Service Load Test was performed. A vertical force of 144.6kN and a lateral force of 75.2kN are applied on each rail head under an angle of 27,5°. Water and sand are trickled on the rail seat to test behavior regarding Rail Seat Abrasion. Additionally, the temperature is cooled down to -40°C 10 times for 30k to 50k load cycles each time.
